After years of working as a commercial photographer I taught creative photography, photojournalism and the history of photography at the University of Victoria. I now seldom accept assignments but instead concentrate on working as a fine art photographer, a euphemism for making lots of great work that seldom sells ;-)

Italy, Turkey and France, the photograph as metaphor and the fine art nude in the landscape are areas of ongoing work, along with my Atget re-photographic project that continues in Paris. I mostly shoot on the streets and in a studio in Victoria's historic Chinatown. I also write about photography and photographic history. I've had two Canada Council grants and won the Photographic Society of America's critical writing award, a Victoria Arts Council's digital image award, the Victoria College of Art Award, Bronze Medals from Trierenberg and Moscow, a Silver Medal from the Toronto Salon in 2018, Gold Medals from Bardarf 2019 and Graphis 2019 and Photographic Society of America Gold Medals from Prague and Panonia.
