Astrid, 4/19/2021. Nikon F5- Kodak Portra 400 35mm Colour Negative Film Scan.
I want to shoot her sometime.
But, I like shots where the model projects as a functional person -- not an air-head giving you the big glamour smile. I often do a number of takes of the same pose just to get an expression I like -- more important than the pose to me, sometimes.
I get that. I've used film. Digital does make a lot of things convenient, though. I can quickly set up studio lighting by trial and error, for example.
Thank You Sir, that Really Means A Lot!! Attitude.... never thought of my work in that way! The credit goes to Astrid, she's a Fearless, Intense, and Stellar model!!! I just followed her lead, and captured her Spirit to the best of my ability.
Astrid is Truly Remarkable, place her at or near the top of your list.
I couldn't agree more. I've been Incredibly fortunate to connect creatively with most of the models I've worked with, where we feed off one another's energy, It's in those moments I capture my Best work. With shooting only film I don't have the luxury of multiple takes, just patience, but I understand exactly why you do.
I understand the convenience, virtually all of my peers switched over to digital for that flexibility. I love the process and aesthetics of film, but I'm stubborn.
I envy you now, you're far more technologically advanced than I. I've never used studio lighting, just flashlights, trouble lights, and such when I've needed an artificial light source. Got to love trial & error in that regard, we share that in common.
It's a pleasure to meet you, Sir.
