In my paintings and my photography, I am inspired by Caravaggio's use of a neutral, almost non-existent background and strong light/dark contrast (chiaroscuro). Here, I wanted a simple, delicate back pose. I love the delicate nature of the hand positioning highlighted against the mid tone back.
