Shin-Hanga #6 - Her Lovely Shade of Blossoms

1,273
(Drawn from my reference photo session with the absolutely wonderful Sienna Hayes) Shin-hanga is an extremely beautiful style of Japanese woodblock printmaking that gained popularity in the early 20th century. This series is my attempt to adhere to the shin-hanga aesthetic while trying to make it my own.

I recognized Sienna from the thumbnail even before I clicked on this! I too love Japanese woodblock prints in this style and Ukiyo-e! A few years back there was a wonderful special exhibit on these at the SF Asian Art Museum!

Thank you! It's always nice to know that I got the likeness right. I agree: the woodblock style is gorgeous and captivating. I would love to see an exhibit one day.

Wonderful concept and execution. I have a fondness for the style of Japanese woodlblock.

Thank you very much! Sienna is one of the most inspiring models ever.

It is very difficult to pick a favourite, but I kept returning to this lovely image. Jolly well done!

Thank you for such a generous compliment! I highly recommend working with Sienna if you get the chance.

Beautiful work!

Ah, Sienna, well captured. Love the woodblock style.

Thanks a lot! I love drawing this style. I think it suits Sienna's beauty very well.
