Hello, I'm Michael McAreavy (hence "m2"). Many thanks for visiting my profile.

Following a twenty one year journey as a landscape photographer crossing the American West time and again with tripod in tow, I turned a corner in 2012 and started a new chapter in art portraiture. Although my initial inclination was to place my subjects in a natural setting, for I know these open spaces best, I was and still am quite drawn to the urban landscape and those spaces that are a little "scratched or dented." I am very driven to making a strong connection between model/subject and the background and/or surrounding area. Increasing the level of "interestingness" is a top priority. Above all, light is life, and this is about getting you out front and center (or not so centered) before the camera's eye.
