I am a very serious amateur photographer. I have primarily been shooting B&W film, but have recently converted to B&W and color digital. I have been doing landscape and seascapes for decades, but recently attended the Weston Nude Photography Workshop in Carmel and have fallen in love with fine art figure photography.
Beyond the basic form and lighting of the pose, is providing a contrast of the smooth live flesh of the model with the texture of the image's setting. The studios seamless backdrop, replaced with the rough wood of a ancient buildings floor. The model draped in rope or chain, such as Herb Ritts Man with Chain. Even to the point of contrasting life and death, with the model posed against the grave or bones of the dead.
