about Excelsior
Male
I strive to create emotionally resonant work. I generally prefer lean, austere images with no extraneous details.
I want to make meaningful images. Prior to being disabled in 1997, I worked for 25 years as a writer and editor. Because of my journalism background, I still feel the need to make my images true and accurate. They are not always literally true, but I do make them emotionally true.
Due to long-term illness, my walking is very limited, so all my work is done indoors. I can't provide elaborate sets.
Multiple exhibitions in New York, New Jersey and New Mexico. Published in 'Black & White' magazine, 'Pasatiempo,' 'Photoshop User magazine,' public television and other venues. My botanical images have been sold in the gift shop of the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art in Santa Fe.
Favorite photographers include Elizabeth Gadd, Minor White and Bill Brandt.

Awesome portfolio my friend.
Thank you for your comment on 'Kayla.' She does have very intense eyes. Unfortunately, we only shot together the one time.
An outstanding portfolio. You have the ability to bring out from your sitters an emotive moment and capture it clearly.
Love your portfolio!
