Female
The Impact of the feminine in my life emerged after exploring multiple themes by reshaping and combining archetypal images. Initially the feminine or the nude was to be complementary but they spoke to me and upon their insistence became central in my work. It's part of me that's transforming as I do this work. And I find this very exciting.I am a fine art photographer, primarily self-taught, having initially specialized in the integration of the feminine nude and the Polaroid image transfer process.
The more painterly moody quality reminiscent of ancient frescos inherent in image transfers seems to resonate most with the inner world I inhabit through my personal process.
Perhaps one of the most important and difficult lessons in creating Polaroid image transfers has been accepting that each image will be different and "imperfect," yet in that imperfection lies beauty and meaning.
I began experimenting with the Holga camera after Polaroid discontinued their film for the image transfer process.
From my perspective, the nude is an initiatory space for the model, photographer and viewer. I believe this is a place of transformation. In this approach, the nude is a vehicle by which to experience the deeper relationships of the human being with soul, nature and music. She is a carrier of other realities.
My work is about making love, merging and abandonment. My work represents another twist away from the traditional nude which attempts to tantalize the male. To me, the feminine nude is a connector and weaves elements together. Placing the nude in Nature allows her to become rooted. She belongs to the cosmos, the earth. She is eternally there. She is camouflaged in Nature. She is a representation of Nature/earth. She is Mother earth.
Creativity was and is the only way home.
