SUBMISSIONPhotography is an act of submission. I will submit to a landscape. I will submit to the flower that invites me. I will submit i to the face in front of my camera and I will fall down on my knees in submission to my models. My job as a photographer is to see, to frame,to organize and reveal what is given to me as a gift.
RUNNING’S BELIEVABILITY
You have to consider that in order to create that aura of believability you see in Running’s photograph that a whole lot of preparation is necessary. What you are looking at is really an illusion. What Running does so well is to make your illusion believable.
His photographs are real, captured instants but they are captured in a carefully fabricated scenario. Casting, location scouting, wardrobe, props, styling hair and makeup are all elements to be considered. Running’s models and locations are carefully chosen to create the feeling he is looking for, the feeling you are asking for, the feeling you expect. Preparation and attention to detail are key factors in the believability of these images.
John Running only needs 1/125th of a second to bring you so much more.
