Natural. For decades I have been making images of women au naturel in nature. As naturally as possible.I grew up in California in the sixties, spent years in Japan (where I lived as a resident monk in a Rinzai Zen monastery), and I have now lived in Vermont for almost four decades.
Long ago a friend requested a series of nude portraits of herself which she said were "to record this time of my life and to show various aspects of the goddess". Her images led to requests by others. And her words informed the many collaborative series in the following quarter century. Each can be seen as both a love song to the eternal and a documentary of a few fleeting moments in a particular individual's life.
These images are made primarily for myself and my collaborator. They are our gift to each other and an honoring of the splendor of our world.
