about Barely StL

Male

I got my first "real" camera at age 13, did a paid internship in photography with a daily newspaper at 15, and never looked back. I shot professionally (mostly photojournalism, fashion, advertising, editorial) for 19 years before my career path took me in a different direction, but I'm back full-time. I've always been drawn to artistic work, because I can express myself in a profoundly beautiful way, the way I want, without a without a client looking over my shoulder or a looming deadline. My artistic work and making black-and-white prints (without a deadline) in a darkroom are the most relaxing things I’ve found. While most of my work is digital and in color now, I’m on a path back to large-format b&w work – and back to the darkroom.
