about Laura Dasi
My entire life has been dedicated to creating art, shape and sculpture with my body. I began classical ballet training at age 8 which lead to a professional dance career in New York City for 7 years. I then ventured into yoga 12 years ago and have been teaching for the past 10 years. My true passion lies in my latest endeavor of aerial arts. I perform throughout southern California on aerial silks and hoop. 5 years ago I developed Alopecia, an autoimmune disorder which affects hair growth. This condition left me completely bald from head to toe. The scary, emotional process of losing my hair, which also made me feel like I was losing my identity and femininity, eventually lead to helping me become a stronger person. Finding a place of peace and acceptance for my appearance and more importantly, with who I am on the inside has given me the courage to embrace my uniqueness, inspire others through my art and to challenge the stereotypes of what is considered beautiful.
