about Ward George
Male
Published fine art photographer/artist focused on nudes intended for gallery exhibition, museum exhibition, and publication.Ward George is a contemporary visual artist interested primarily in the female nude.
Having made off with his mother’s paintbox at the age of nine, Mr. George received his training privately and, formally, at the University of Wisconsin. Although deeply influenced by modern art and its philosophies, he soon embarked on a deeper study of the whole of Western Art. As a result, he has built a foundation drawing from the depth of western tradition as well as more contemporary sources.
Mr. George has chosen the nude as an expressive vehicle for three reasons:
• first, it is the foundation of Western Art;
• second, it is an art form in and of itself;
• third, and most importantly, because of his natural sympathies for the human figure and the challenges and opportunities it presents.
Believing that an artist must bring intellect, emotion, and technique to his work, he has taken what he considers of greatest aesthetic value from artists as varied as Rembrandt and Picasso, de Kooning and Ingres, Rodin and Welliver, Matisse, Wyeth, Rubens, and Pearlstein.
Mr. George's work hangs in private collections throughout the world.
Commission work considered.
NOTE: During the pandemic, profits on some of the prints for sale here are shared 50/50 with my model. If it is noted as a collaboration this is the case. This helps both my model and me during a difficult time. Thanks for taking this into consideration.
Holy cow, your work is stunning! How wonderful to discover such an extraordinarily talented Bay Area Artist!
Simply amazed...
Thanks, Alexandros. I took a look at your work, too. Keep it up. In my experience, your talent is directly proportional to how much you enjoy what you do. I can see you enjoy it.
I so appreciate the addition of paint and elements which enhance and move through and outside the image. An interesting aesthetic, which has been employed very successfully in the images you have chosen to display here. Kudos for the conceptualization and execution and overwhelming collection of beautiful art. Although each piece stands entirely on it's own. I have some personal favorites which I added to my gallery. Glad you chose to begin posting here. Thanks for sharing your work.
Thanks, Philip. I enjoy your work, as well. Like you, I have some personal favorites And my wife appreciates your comments, too.
