about Robert Cottrell

RS Cottrell was born in Boulder, CO in 1962 and currently lives and works in northern New Mexico. He studied history, anthropology and political science at the University of Northern Colorado and attended university in Florence, Italy for a time where his passion for art grew. His interest in ancient Greek and Roman history has deeply influenced his sculpture practice, as he uses the model of classical form as a way of embracing the composition and lines of the human figure. The artist is an lover of all creatures, great and small and also enjoys drawing and painting. He works in the healthcare field when not entranced in his sculpting studio.
